I’m not sure there are many things better than homemade pizza. There’s just something so comforting about it. I’ve played around with a lot of different pizza dough recipes and this is by far the best. Yes, it requires a little planning ahead (18 hours to be exact) but the results are incredible. This is the perfect combination of chewy and crispy. NOTHING compares to the pizza you get in Italy but this is pretty close!
I followed this recipe exactly. Pizza this simple really shines when you use the best possible ingredients. High quality tomatoes, olive oil, and fresh mozzarella made a huge difference. When you’re stretching the dough I found it easiest to do it in incraments – stretch it a little and then let it rest for a minute. If you try to stretch it too quickly you’ll end up with holes.
A baking note – make sure that you place your pizza stone or baking steel on a rack positioned in the middle to lower third of your oven. This will help to ensure a crispy and well done crust.
Enjoy!
